Setting Up Email Addresses
By default, email is not configured for new accounts on ASO servers. You will need to create email addresses for each account you wish to use.
The following examples assume your domain name is called
example.com and your Cpanel username is
example.
Cpanel Main Account
Login to Cpanel.
Click on Mail -> Add/Remove/Manage Accounts
You'll notice the first line says "Main Account
Example"
This implies that you have an email address called, example@example.com.
However, this account is disabled by default.
Creating an Email Address
To use the email address example@example.com, go to Mail -> Add/Remove/Manage Accounts.
Then, click Add Account.
Enter "example" and type in a password.
The quota defaults to 10 MB. You can adjust this higher, or enter 0 to give it unlimited (it will be limited by your entire account disk space, so be careful here).
Click Create.
Now, when you login to
webmail∞ or configure an email client such as Outlook, Thunderbird, or Apple Mail.app, you'll use the full email address for the username and the password you just created.
Using the Default Address / Main Account
Enabling this is not recommended.
However, if you need this for some reason, go to Mail -> Default Address
Click Set Default Address.
Select the correct domain name in the drop-down menu, and then type in your Cpanel username (example).
Click Change.
This enables
all email addressed to an address
that is otherwise is not created above to be delivered to your Cpanel Main Account.
Forwarding mail
Under "Forwarders" on Cpanel you can set up a particular email address to act like a "redirect" to another one. Cpanel says
Note that the mail for a forwarded email address will still be delivered to that address as well. This is only true if you have already created that email account. If you just set up a forwarder, the mail will not be kept locally. If you set up the email account and a forwarder, then your mail will be kept both locally and forwarded.
